Priyankar Patra is a writer and filmmaker from Calcutta, India. He's currently Kolkata based.
Before Priyankar became a screenwriter, he was a journalist, working for The Telegraph, in Kolkata and found himself somehow hanging out on film sets. That prompted him to hone his skills by applying to Northwestern's MFA Writing program. In 2017, he was selected as a Television Academy intern where he worked for The Wolper Organization based at Warner Bros.
His one-act play, One Ticket to America, has been produced by Chicago based theatre company, Nothing Without A Company, for their annual play festival in October 2018.
He's currently adapting Lal Bhatia's Indicting Goliath for television. Additionally, he's developing multiple short films under his banner, Elphinstone Film Collective, and developing a feature with National Film Award winner, Aditya Vikram Sengupta.
Priyankar just finished work on his short narrative fiction, Malini, which is expected to start its festival run from early 2020.
